Every college kid knows the struggle of making their own food. With Postmates, DoorDash, Ubereats, it is so easy to give in to easy appeal of delivery. This is usually due to convenience and lack of proper cooking areas. Whether you’re saving money or just sick of ordering out here is a simple, lazy, college student approved fried pickle recipe.

Ingredients for fried pickles:

  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 1 cup of flower (mixed with Tajin seasoning, paprika, and garlic powder to taste)
  • Sliced pickles. I picked up a jar of Mt. Olive kosher pickles sandwich stuffers from Target already pre sliced.

How to make:

  • First, start with adding your cup of almond milk to one bowl and your cup of flower and mixed spices to another.
  • Take your pickles and count out as many as you want. I usually use half a jar each time I make this. Set your pickles on a paper towel and blot them dry from pickle juice.
  • Once your pickles are dry you can start assembling your fried pickles. First coat them in the flower mixture, then the almond milk, and back to the flower mixture. After coated set the pickle in your air fryer accordingly. Repeat until all your pickles are coated.
  • Once all your pickles are coated spray them with a bit of olive oil for extra crispy ness. Then air fry for five minutes or more based on the desired crispiness. If you do not have an air fryer I have made these in the oven a few times. Start by baking at 350 for 10–15 minutes, sometimes more depending on how crispy you want them.

Vegan spicy sauce:

While your pickles are cooking, go ahead and pick your sauce of choice. I like to make my own, although you could use something right out of the bottle for those days you are feeling extra lazy.

You will need:

  • Follow Your Heart Vegan Ranch
  • ½ tps of ketchup
  • Tajin to taste
  • Paprika to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp of pickle juice
  • ½ tsp of of siratcha

Mix all the ingredients together and enjoy your sauce!

Enjoy your vegan air fried pickles with a big glass of sweet ice tea! Perfect for an afternoon snack :)
